Everything Else We Did This Summer

Ok, so I've finally gotten my camera back from
Maui, so I was able to post some pictures of the house
now that it's done.

We started the summer off by moving in. This
is the master bathroom.

This is part of the downstairs familyroom.

Brandon and Tamsin came up for the summer
to work. I was lucky enough to have their help
with landscaping the yard.

The backyard is small, but it's almost done.
Next summer after everything settles, we'll
put in the flagstone patio.

This is the kitchen part of the great room. Sorry
the pictures aren't very good. I should have turned
some more lights on.
This is the living room. The fireplace passes
through to the master bedroom.

This is the front entry. There's a den to the
left.

This is part of the master bedroom.

And part of the master bathroom. Again I should
have turned on some lights!
The beginning of summer found Stacey graduating
from high school. Can that even be possible?
It seems so.

It was great to have Brandon, Tamsin, and Granny
and Grandpa here for the celebration.

Stacey looked beautiful of course at the banquet
and dance that followed the ceremony.

We all enjoyed celebrating with her.
After all the work was done and graduation
was over, we were finally able to get away
for awhile. This was the first summer since
we've been married that Kirk has been
able to take some real time off. It was
really fun.

We were lucky enough to have Cindy, Landon,
and Parker join us in Maui for a week or so.

We did everything we could to cool
down. Landon and Parker had to try
all the fountains.

They really liked playing outside,
especially if we could catch a gecko
to look at.

Kirk was determined to get a burn, I mean a tan
this summer. He had a pretty good one by the end.

Parker loved to be snuggled.

Landon loved to play with Bryson at the beach.

And Cindy was just glad to have some extra hands
to help with her boys.

I spent a lot of time gardening this summer.
I planted another plumeria, white this time,
and pulled a lot of weeds.

Things were looking pretty green. My bird of
paradise was even blooming!

Our last day on Maui was kind of rainy. But
it didn't keep us from having fun anyway.
Kirk went scuba diving.....

While Bryson and I lounged on the beach and
tossed around the football. Oh Maui.......we
hope we'll see you again soon.

What We Did On Our Summer Vacation

Bryson and Dad were invited to hike the west
coast trail. Seven days, six nights, 78km (49 mi)
carrying everything with you,... how could we refuse.
The ferry ride to Nanaimo (famous for bars)
would turn out to be the easy part.

...once we had our directions straight,
we started on the trail that has
something for everyone...

...sandy beach walks

...regular bridges

...good friends

......shoreline walks

....the oldest wooden lighthouse in Canada

....lots of ups

...the loo

.....the view
(Note the broken off door in the loo photo)
Together they make "The loo with a view!"
I can't remember ever having such peaceful
surroundings while straining to extrude
the excrement from my bowels. (you didn't
dare linger too long over the view without
someone standing gaurd however...surprise!)

I'm not sure Bryson brushed his teeth
the whole trip, but he did have at least
one welcome shower!

...cable car rides

the first half was great, then you had to pull
yourself the rest of the way across.....with a
little help from your friends on the platform.

Home sweet home,

.....Spectacular flaura, fawna and scenery

...Ferry rides across deep inlets

.....storm ravaged trail sections

a boo-boo or two,

....a fresh crab feast put on by the kind locals
who operate the ferries.

Shortcuts at low tide....if you are fast enough.

...forested trail

...and downs (or is this one of the ups???)

...and crazy bridges (that no-one ever
bounced you up and down to see if
you would get scared).

All for a picture with the sign post
at the end to say you did it!
